  Guruvayoor Temple – known as ‘Bhooloka Vaikunda’ is famous SreeKrishna Temple In Kerala. Anakkotta/ Punnathurkotta – was once the palace of a local ruler. Currently there are about 66 elephants. The elephants are ritual offerings made by the devotees of Lord Guruvayurappa -  Thalikulm Beach – known as ‘The beach of Silver Sands’ with calm and neat environment – The near by park is known as “Snehatheeram”  with an open air auditorium.


Kerala Kalamandalam  – is a major centre for learning Indian performing arts especially those that developed in the southern state of India, with the special emphasis on Kerala. It is situated in the banks of the Bharathapuzha River.  Vazhani Dam – one of the biggest clay dams in Kerala, is situated 23 km from Thrissur.


Athirapilly/ Vazhachal waterfalls –These are the two most famous waterfalls in Kerala. Athirapilly is 80 feet high water falls, which is famous for Film shooting. Vazhachal Waterfalls- 5 km from Athirappilly and located amidst the dense green forests. Another attraction is near by water theme parks


Thripunithura Palace – The main attraction is ‘Hill Palace Museum’ 12 km from Eranakulam, residency of the erstwhile Kochi Royal Family. Mattanchery Palace – built in 1557 by Keralavarma and renovated by the Dutch rulers. Jew Street – the oldest Synagogue in India was constructed in 1568. The street around the Synagogue is known as Jew Street.


Kodungalloor Temple – Located at Kodungalloor known as the ancient Seaport MUZIRIZ’. Kodungalloor temple,a very famous Lord Devi Temple and believed to have been constructed during the reign of Chera King, Cheran Senkuttuvan. Cheraman Juma Masjid – The masjid was built around A.D 629. in the typical local style of architecture and said to be the first mosque constructed in India. – St. Thomas Church at Azheekode – believed that Thomas the Apostle of Jesus had landed here in AD 52 to spread Christianity in India. Cherai Beach – 10 km from Kodungaloor,  15 km of long golden beach is most clean, shallow beach in Kerala and attracts swimming and sunbathing Boating facility available at Azheekode backwater.


Veega Land – is the most popular amusement park in Kerala 12 km from Eranakulam.


Nellimapathy Hill Station – is a popular hill station 60 km away from Palakkad. Pothundi Dam and Sitarkund are the main attractions in Nelliampathy. The guest can watch wild animals closely like monkeys, deer and tiger, elephants, hill squirrels and bison’s etc.


Parambikulam Wild Life Sanctuary – Parambikulam lies in the Anamala Hills, South of the Palghat Gap in the Western Ghats. The area is hilly and rocky, drained by several rivers.  Another attraction is famous Kannimara teak tree, allegedly the largest tree in Asia.  Here the guests can watch wild animals closely on early morning and evening.


Silent Valley – is located in the Nilgiri Hills, Palakkad , The park is one of the last undisturbed tracts of South Western Ghats mountain rain forests and tropical moist evergreen forest in India. The silent valley is famous for medium sized species of monkey, called the lion tailed macaque. Other animals include tigers, leopards, snakes, Malabar squirrel etc.


Palakkad Fort – situated in Palakkad town built in 1766 by Hyder Ali, The Sultan Of Mysore. Malampuzha Dam- The ‘Vrindavan’ of Kerala, 13 km from Palakkad town. The dam was constructed in 1955; The dam is located in idyllic surroundings with a hilly background. The beautiful garden on Mughal model below the dam is the star attraction for the tourists. The gigantic ‘Yakshi’ statue situated in the garden would cause surprise and wonder to anyone visiting Malampuzha. The amusement park with thrilling rides therein and the garden fountain are the other attraction


Peechidam – 5 km from Rayirath Heritage, built across the Manali River, the dam is a vast catchments area of nearly 3,200 acres (1,300 ha) with extensive botanical garden and cascading fountains offer numerous inviting avenues for tourists. Chimminy Dam – Chimmini Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the western valley of Nelliampathy in Thrissur district. The dam has formed an artificial lake here across the Chimmini River. Kouthukapark – an amusement park which will entertain guests.


Vadakumnathan Temple – Vadakumnathan Temple, also known as Thenkailasam and Vrishabhachalam, is one of the largest and ancient Shiva temples in Kerala and India. The vast area in and around the temple is the location of ‘Thrissur Pooram’, the superb temple spectacle in Kerala. Sakthan Thampuran Fort – Thrissur town is well known for its historical interest Shaktharan Thampuran Palace is one of the historic, cultural, architectural important palace of the erstwhile Maharaja of Cochin has been converted into a heritage museum. Vilangankunnu – Vilangankunnu is a situated in 7 km away from Thrissur. This is a beautiful hill where the guests enjoy the scenic beauty of Thrissur town and wetlands ( colpadam) of Thrissur from the hilltop. Thrissur Zoo and Art museum – opened in 1885 in the heart of Thrissur city. It is one of the oldest zoos in the country. The zoo compound includes a natural history museum and an art museum.


Kodanad, the elephant training center located at Perumbavoor In Eranakulam District, Kerala. Earlier the center engaged in capture of the elephants. The Kerala government was banned capture of the elephants in 1977, now the Kodanad center focuses on training elephants.

Kodanad elephant training center is a peaceful spot among forest-like environs. Elephants are being accommodated in the sturdy cage. The cage allows training in a more humane manner, instead of being torture-based. You can watch elephants being bathed if you reach the place by 7.30 am. The tourists can lend a helping hand while the mahouts scrub the elephants using coconut husks or even play with them. Elephant kids might get a wash inside the cage.

There is a small wildlife park at the center that attracts several tourists. The main attraction, however, are the elephants, particularly the kids and the older, but still young, elephants.

Interested tourists could also get an elephant-ride at the Kodanad center by paying a fee.

Eupatorium triplinerve

Malayalam Name: Ayyappana        Plant pacifies vitiated kapha, pitta, dyspepsia, hemorrhage, hemoptysis, menorrhagia, wounds, edema, ulcers, stomatitis, cardiac debility, skin diseases, poison bites, cough, asthma, bronchitis and general debility. Intake 4-5 leaves twice a day (morning & evening) for 15 days- most of the types of piles will cure.

Wrightia tinctoria

Malayalam Name:Dhanthappala A plant with unique properties to relive the symptoms of Psoriasis and Eczema. Take leaves and coconut oil in 1:1 ratio. Mix and keep in direct sunlight for 7 days- the oil color will change into violet color. Apply the oil in the affected area and wait for one hour. After clean with pea powder.  Do this for 15 days and the psoriasis disease will be cured.

Jatropha multifida

Malayalam Name: Churakkalli Also known as ‘ Burnol Plant ‘. Plant pacifies kapha, pitta, inflammation, fresh wounds, ulcers and skin diseases. Latex is applied for fresh wounds, and it exhibits antibacterial activity.

Annona muricata

Malayalam Name: Mullatha Plant used in  vitiated pitta, constipation, burning sensation, bacterial infections, parasites, hypertension, depression, fever, viral infections, malignancy and general tonic. Root decoction is a powerful purgative. Powdered seed kills body and hair lice on external application. Graviola is used as a sedative and to treat infections, herpes, and cancer. The fruit is used for curing cancer disease.

Rhinacanthus nasutus

Malayalam name: Nagamulla Whole plant is used in cancer disease, sexual desire etc. It is also used for treating other dermatoses including scruf, eczema and herpes. The roots are also considered an antidote to bites of poisonous snakes.

Pittosporam tetraspermum

Malayalam Name: Analivegam The juice taken from the bark is used as an anti-medicine for snake bite.

 Aquilaria agallocha  

Malayalam Name:Agar wood Agar or Attar tree is a tropical deciduous tree, which is very valuable for its transformed wood which on distillation yield Agar oil which has high export value.

Ailanthus excelsa

Malayalam Name:Simaruba Plant pacifies vitiated kapha, pitta, diarrhea, dysentery, worm infestations, skin diseases, gynecological diseases, fever, and found to be effective in Leukemia.

Alangium salvifolium

Malayalam Name:Ankolam

The seeds of Alangium salvifolium Linn. have been traditionally reported to exhibit a variety of biological activities, including antidiabetic, anticancer, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, laxative, and antiepileptic activities. It is anti-hypertensive, antidote for several poisons especially for rabies. Roots are useful for external application in case of rheumatism and inflammation. Fruits are used in treatment of hemorrhages.

Morinda citrifolia

Malayalam Name:Inoni The green fruit, leaves, and root/rhizomes were traditionally used in Polynesian cultures to treat menstrual cramps, bowel irregularities, diabetes, liver diseases, and urinary tract infections.

Cinnamomum camphora

Malayalam Name:Camphor

Bark is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, analgesic, analeptic, anthelmintic, antispasmodic, aromatic, aphrodisiac, carminative, diaphoretic, sedative, stimulant, narcotic and tonic. It is used as nervine depressant in case of hysteria, epilepsy, chorea and convulsions. It acts as stimulant for cardiac, circulation and respiration. It is useful in measles, typhoid, whooping cough, asthma, and hiccup. It is recommended in case of cough, cold, toothache and liver disorders. Camphor oil is antihelmintic, antirheumatic, antispasmodic, cardiotonic and sedative. It is used for treating joints and muscle pains, cold sores and skin diseases. Camphor oil is best used for sedating nervy types particularly when associated with depression. Also used an aromatherapy diffuser or vaporizer.

Elaeacarpus ganitrus

Malayalam Name: Rudraksham A holy plant. The seeds are used for making chains and also for cough, liver diseases, nervous diseases, dysentery and diarrhea.

Dorstinia vernia

The whole plant is used for cancer diseases.

Anaphyllum wightii

Malayalam Name: Keerakhizhangu The rhizome is used against cobra bite.

Trichopus zeylrnicus

Malayalam Name: Arogyapacha Fruits and leaves are used for stamina, immunity and vitality. The kani tribes of Kerala eat the fruits to overcome hunger and thirst. Recently an ayurvedic medicine known as ‘Jivani’  is prepared from this plant.

Rare Fruits

Nephelium lappaceum –(Rambuttan)

The trees are cultivated for their very popular fruit. The juicy sarcotesta around the seed is usually eatable. Rambutan fruit is consumed fresh, as well as canned and processed into jams.

Garcinia mangostana(Mangosteen)

The fruits primarily consumed fresh, but is also canned and used to make juices and jellies. The fruit rind is ground and used in the treatment of diarrhea and dysentery, and for skin diseases. A tea made from the leaves and bark is used to lower fever and for urinary disorders. The tree, with its glossy green leaves and symmetrical shape, is also a beautiful ornamental.

Passiflora edulis( Passion fruit)

The passion fruit is round to oval, either yellow or dark purple at maturity, with a soft to firm, juicy interior filled with numerous seeds. The fruit is both eaten and juiced; passion fruit juice is often added to other fruit juices to enhance the aroma.

Durio zibethinus( Durian)

Durian pulp is usually consumed fresh, but it is also used to flavor ice cream, cookies and candies, or preserved by canning, freezing, drying, boiling with sugar, fermenting, or salting.  It is also used to prepare sauces and relishes.  The seeds are edible, eaten after boiling, frying or roasting.  Young shoots and unripe fruit are cooked and eaten as a vegetable. The fruit is believed to have medicinal properties, restoring health to humans and domestic animals.  Leaf, fruit and root extracts are used to reduce fever, and in treatment of jaundice, swelling and skin diseases.

Ficus carica( Edible Athi)

Figs can be eaten fresh or dried, and used in jam-making. Most commercial production is in dried or otherwise processed forms, since the ripe fruit does not transport well, and once picked does not keep well. The latex of fig fruit (Ficus carica) has been used in several traditional herbal medicine remedies, most of them aimed to treat skin viral infections.

Citrus limetta (Moosamby)

The pulp is greenish and the juice is sweet rather than acidic. Mosambi (sweet lime) juice is the most common available citrus juice inIndia,  It is also a good source of vitamin C, copper and iron. The acids present in the sweet lemon juice are great for doing away with toxins found in the bowel tracts. Mosambi juice is also beneficial for people with stomach upsets, dysentery, diarrhea and loose stools since it is rich in potassium. It helps avoid vomiting and nausea as a result of its tasty flavor.

Litchi chinensis(Lichy)

The handsome tree develops a compact crown of foliage, bright green the year round. The fruits, produced in clusters, are oval to round, strawberry red in colour, and about 25 mm (1 inch) in diameter. The brittle outer covering encloses white, translucent, watery flesh and one large seed. The fruit is eaten fresh, canned, or dried, as the litchi nut of commerce. The flavour of the fresh pulp is musky; when dried, it is acidic and very sweet.

Persea americana(butter Fruit/ Avocado)

A rapidly-growing tree or shrub,avocado is well-known for its edible, green-fleshed fruits. Avocados have been cultivated for their highly nutritious fruits . It is eaten in salads and desserts and used as a sandwich filling and an ingredient in dips and spreads (such as guacamole), ice-creams and milkshakes.

Fragaria ananassa( Strawberry)

It is cultivated worldwide for its fruit, the common strawberry. The fruit (which is not a botanical berry, but an aggregateaccessory fruit) is widely appreciated for its characteristic aroma, bright red color, juicy texture, and sweetness. It is consumed in large quantities, either fresh or in prepared foods such as preserves, fruit juice, pies, ice creams, and milkshakes. Artificial strawberry aroma is also widely used in many industrialized food products.

Nephelium mutabile (Pulasan fruit)

The fresh ripe fruit is eaten raw. The flesh is slightly juicy and sweet. The seed is edible and tastes like almond. Pulasan can be frozen or dried and used to flavor ice cream and puddings. It can also be made into preserves, jams, jellies and sauces. Diabetics can eat this fruit. It reduces the body fat. So it is good for people who are obese.

Tamarindus indica (Sweet tamarind)

Tamarind is a fruit that is popular in the foods of Southeast Asia, North Africa andIndia. While tamarinds are typically sweet and sour in flavor, they tend to become sweeter as they ripen. Due to their sweet, robust flavor, tamarinds are common in candies, chutneys, jams, desserts, steak sauces and Worcestershire sauce. In addition to its high energy and fiber content, the tamarind is a great source of B-vitamins and a number of minerals.

Cola nitida(Kola Tree)

The kola nut is the fruit of the kola tree. The caffeine-containing fruit of the tree is sometimes used as a flavoring ingredient in beverages. The nuts taste bitter when chewed at first but they leave a sweet taste in the mouth later. Thus chewing cola nuts before drinking water helps to render the water sweeter.

Pistacia vera(Pistha)

Wonderfully delicious pistachio nuts have been revered as the symbol of wellness and robust health since ancient times. The nuts are enriched with many health-benefiting nutrients that are essential for optimum health. Pistachios are delicious tree nuts recognized for their wholesome nutrition principles. Together with walnuts, almonds, and cashew, they form important source of protein, fats and minerals.

Chrysophyllum cainito (Jamaican Star Apple)

The flesh of the Jamaican star apple is best when eaten fresh, it has a pleasant sweet taste which goes well in salads, drinks and other dishes. The skin is really thick but soft when fully ripe. It is also taste bitter, however spooning out the pulp would be a good idea to avoid the unpleasant rind

Dendrocalamus giganteus also known as Giant Bamboo or Dragon Bamboo is a giant tropical and subtropical clumping species native to Myanmar (Burma), Bhutan, China and Thailand. It is considered the tallest bamboo in the world. In North-Eastern States of India the culm is used for building purposes, boat masts, vases, buckets, and various other decorative purposes.

Decoction of leaves and nodes and silicious matter is used in the traditional medicine.

    Dendrocalamus asper also known as Rough Bamboo or Giant Bamboo is a giant tropical and subtropical dense clumping species native to Southeast Asia. This timber bamboo is used as a building material for heavy construction, and shoots are consumed as a vegetable.
